Rivers guber: Resign now, withdraw from governorship race – Ex-nPDP spokesperson, Eze charges Gov. Wike

A former Spokesperson of the New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has charged the leadership of the party in the state to immediately commence the process of mobilising members of the party as well as the entire state in preparation for the polls.

Eze also advised the Rivers State governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to honourably resign now as governor and withdraw from the governorship race to save himself the shame that comes with loss in an election.

Eze was reacting to the Appeal Court ruling on Monday which restored the rights of candidates on the platform of the APC in state to contest this year’s general elections.

He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to obey the court and list names of the party’s candidates immediately.

The Appeal Court had on Monday granted a stay of execution order in favour of an application filed by the party, against a High Court decision, which had denied APC the right to feature candidates in all elective contests in Rivers state. The initial application before the High Court was filed by Senator Magnus Abe, also a governorship aspirant of the party.

However, Eze in his statement to BabaNewsline , noted that the Appeal Court decision came as a result of the party members and leaders’s ceaseless prayers.

The statement added, “I am elated that the ruling adds faith to all my statements, through which I have continued to maintain that Rivers State APC will surely participate in the elections and will win to reclaim the state from the hands of those who prefer to spread darkness over a State so blessed by God.

“The next line of action now is for the leadership of our great party to set the motion in play and mobilise all our structures to go into the fields in every nook and cranny of the state, spread the news of hope and development for our state. Our members should all be mobilised to fully hit the ground running, getting ready to cast their votes to free our state from mediocre leadership and bring back the days of progress and positive development in Rivers state.

“With this statement, I also want to advise Governor Nyesom Wike to avoid the disaster that awaits him at the polls and formally resign, but if he prefers to be disgraced at the polls then that is his choice to make”, he said.

Eze reiterated that the unfolding drama had exposed both Governor Wike and the Senator representing Rivers South-East, Senator Magnus Abe, as enemies of democracy.

“Once again the Judiciary has proven that it is the bastion of hope for the common man and today will go on record as the day when a new Rivers state was born”, he added.
